§ HAIDA GWAII FILM FESTIVAL 2010
The Haida Gwaii Film Festival was held this
year from April 30th to May 2nd. The show themes were Water, Earth, Wind and
Fire, and this year’s festival was created from a very unique cache of
amazing talented directors, filmmakers, and producers from around the
world.
Highlights were:

Kevin Element from Thunder
Bay presenting free workshops of Stop
Motion Animation for youth and adults
·
Dr. Alberto Becerril Montekio of the
University of Morelos, Mexico who will present a seminar which is a visual
anthropology of his last film (selected by National Geographic)
·
Helen Haig-Brown, a Tsilhqot’in director who will present a film The Cave
·
Cristina Boiles, a producer from Montreal to present Native Mexican
Cinema
·
Abraham Lifhshitz,
a documentary Ants and Elephants
Others were invited:
·
Karen Jamieson to present a
documentary The Recollector,
a project begun in Skidegate eight years ago while
creating a dance memorial for Percy Gladstone
· Lysette Yosolevitz, a video
artist who will offer film editing workshops.
·
Dariush Zarbafian from Moncton University to present his
documentary on Iranian percussions
