FRASER-ELLIS
WRITING CONTEST 2010
The Fraser Ellis Writing
Contest has taken a hiatus over the last couple of years, but in 2010 it is
back.
After reading recent
obituaries, many people were dismayed to read about people who they thought
they knew, albeit on a surface level, only to find so many interests and events
in people’s lives that it would have been so nice to have been able to talk to
them about.
By knowing our neighbours
hopefully we can become better neighbours and, by sharing our stories, no
matter how insignificant we might feel they are, we may spark inspiration, make
unexpected connections, and develop wonderful friendships.
The Fraser-Ellis Writing
Contest 2010 challenge is to write a biography of a living Islander.
Your biography must be a
maximum of 1000 words, typed, double spaced, in English, and submitted by June
15, to Box 166, QCC.
There will be $500.00 in
prices to be awarded, and a reading following the contest is planned.
Winners have been
announced: Heather Ramsay, Beng Favreau and Alison Gear, and kids Ursa
Fox and Elin Hilgemann. Congratulations, all!
